Pune’s Lions Club Provide Home-Made Meals To Police Force During Visarjan Duty

Pune, 9th September 2022: The initiative of the Lions Club to provide healthy food to the police personnel deployed for the security of the citizens for 25-30 hours consecutively during Ganesh Visarjan is commendable.

 

The police are being provided fresh, delicious and nutritious food, with clean water, like at home, due to Shramparihar Kendra set up in the spirit of social commitment. This will increase the morale and energy of the police personnel, security guards and friends of the police. Additional Commissioner of Police Rajendra Dahale asserted that with the blessings of Ganaraya, the immersion procession will be conducted smoothly.

Dahale inaugurated the Shramparihar Kendra set up at Ranka Jewellers, Laxmi Street on behalf of the Lions Club of Poona Sarasbaug and Lions Club Poona Sarasbaug Charitable Trust. This Shram Parihar Center was established 17 years ago. Lions Club International Deputy Governor (I) Parmanand Sharma, Deputy Governor (II) Sunil Chekar, Ex-Provincial Fatechand Ranka, President of Lions Club of Poona Sarasbag Anil Sugandhi, Secretary Poonam Ashtekar, Treasurer Darshan Todkar, Head of Activities Kalpesh Patni along with members of the Lions Club were present in large numbers.

 

Ranka said, “We have been running this activity for the past 17 years on immersion day. Around 2,000-2,500 police personnel, home guards, police friends and volunteers of the National Art Academy wearing rangoli shoes are given fresh and nutritious meals in packets. Besides, 800 to 1000 people eat at the centre. There are homemade dishes like stewed vegetables, pulao, pickles and barfi. This food arrangement has been made from 11 am on Friday to 11 am on Saturday.”
