Pune’s Mobile Court Settles 130 Cases, Earns Praise from Citizens
Pune, 6th August 2025: The ‘Justice at Your Doorstep’ initiative, started by Principal District Judge Mahendra K. Mahajan, has received a very positive response in Pune. This Mobile Lok Adalat scheme has helped settle cases worth Rs 1.54 crore, bringing justice to many people from backward classes and those in need. Many beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude to the Pune District Legal Services Authority (DLSA).
The Mobile Van for this initiative was launched by Judge Mahajan on 12th June. In the first phase, it covered areas under Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations, as well as nearby Cantonment Boards. In the second phase, from 23rd June, the van visited all 13 talukas of Pune District.
During these phases, a total of 130 civil and criminal cases were resolved, with settlements reaching Rs 1.49 crore. In addition, pre-settled cases worth Rs 5.35 lakh were completed.
Judge Mahajan said, “The soul of the Indian judiciary is inclusiveness and sensitivity. The Mobile Lok Adalat came from the heart of democracy, taking justice to citizens’ doorsteps is our real duty.”
Pune DLSA Secretary Sonal Patil added, “This initiative is not just about judicial service, but about building trust in the justice system. We want to make getting justice easy and reliable for everyone, whether they live in cities or villages, regardless of their economic or social background.”
