PYC-Goldfieldd MANDKE TROPHY from February 23.

Pune, 21 Febuary 2023: PYC Hindu Gymkhana has been conducting Mandke Trophy – one of the oldest and unique cricket tournaments in the country. This year it will start from Thursday, 23rd February 2023 and is sponsored by Goldfieldd Properties.

City’s top club cricket teams namely PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Poona Club, Club of Maharashtra, Deccan Gymkhana, Varroc–Vengsarkar Academy, Parsi Gymkhana, Punit Balan Kedar Jadhav Cricket Academy, United Sports Club, Ambitious Cricket Club, Sportsman Cricket Club and Cadence will be seen in action.

Speaking to reporters Mr. Sarang Lagu, Secretary of PYC Hindu Gymkhana, Mr. Vinayak Dravid, Secretary of the Cricket Department, PYC Hindu Gymkhana and Mr Anil Chhajed and T.N. Sundar of Goldfieldd Group, the Sponsors for the event, complimented and congratulated PYC Managing Committee for keeping the 60 plus year old tradition of conducting Mandke Trophy. Winners will get Trophy, while Runner-up and trophy. Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Best Wicketkeeper, Best Fielder and Man of the Series will be given Trophies each. The tournament will be played on knockout basis on PYC, Deccan Gymkhana, Poona Club, Veerangan Cricket Ground, Barane Cricket Academy ground and Varroc Vengsarkar Academy Ground.

Mr. Chhajed said the tournament was first of its kind one-day event which was started in 1950’s even before the start of the one-day events. We have decided to be associated with this event as this format offers something interesting and match is not decided till the last ball is bowled.

Goldfieldd is committed to promotion of sports and is in the process of developing integral sports facility at Dapoli. The Highlight of this facility will be an international size cricket field with day and night facility along with other indoor and outdoor sports and English type of Pavilion with Lodging and Restaurant facility. Goldfieldd is also developing an Eco friendly landscaped gated community next to the sports facility, Mr. Chajjed added.

Mr. Dravid further said Mandke Trophy, offers different format and rules The matches are of 2 innings, the 1st innings is of 40 overs having 8 balls in a over, the 2nd innings is of 20 overs having 8 balls in a over. If the team loses a wicket, 5 runs are deducted from the innings total. If, team declares their inning either in 1st or 2nd innings, that inning will be consider as all out and 50 runs will be deducted from their total score. Both the teams get all out with equal runs and equal number of wickets at the end of game then, result will be given on super over of 8 balls.

The thirty-yard rule is applicable for the 1st innings for 10 overs and 2nd innings for first 5 over’s. In 1st innings a bowler is allowed to bowl maximum of 8 over’s and 2nd inning a bowler is allowed to bowl 4 over’s maximum.

For the smooth conduction of the Tournament an Organizing Committee comprising of Mr. Vinayak Dravid, Mr. Niranjan Godbole, Mr. Indrajeet Kamtekar, Mr. Parag Shahane, Mr. Kapil Khare has been formed.
