Ratnagiri, 21st June 2023: Commuters traveling on Konkan Railway lines are facing significant inconvenience due to an unforeseen mega block that has been implemented today.

The mega block, which involves the temporary suspension of train services along a lengthy section of the railway network for maintenance purposes, has caused considerable delays in the train schedules. This unexpected disruption follows last week’s planned mega block in Mumbai, which inconvenienced many travelers during the weekend.

Currently, the mega block is in effect on the Ratnagiri-Vaibhavwadi route of the Konkan Railway, resulting in the cancellation of several local trains as well as three long-distance trains. Railway authorities have cited the need for extensive maintenance and repair work on the tracks as the reason for this block. However, the sudden announcement of the mega block has put a significant strain on passengers traveling to and from the Konkan region.

Although the railway administration has assured that the block will last only three hours, it is anticipated that the resumption of normal services may take longer than expected. This situation has forced passengers traveling to and from Konkan to seek alternative transportation options, such as private or public road vehicles.

The sudden block has not only affected students but also employees returning from vacations, causing severe disruptions to their travel plans. Nonetheless, the railway administration has promised a smooth resumption of services once the maintenance and repair work on the tracks is completed. It is expected that the situation will normalize only after the mega block is completely lifted. Until then, passengers are left scrambling to make alternative travel arrangements.

As a direct consequence of the block, the Dadar-Sawantwadi Tutari Express, Thiruvananthapuram Central-CST Netravati Express, and Diva Express trains will experience delays of three to four hours at various stations. Furthermore, the mega block has thrown off the timetable of numerous local trains from Mumbai to Konkan, causing additional distress for daily commuters.
