Railway Employee Robbed After Being Tied Up and Attacked With Knife at Pune Railway Station
Pune, 20th August 2026: A 29-year-old railway employee was allegedly attacked and robbed by two unidentified men at Pune Railway Station in the early hours of Tuesday, August 18. The accused allegedly threatened him with a knife, stabbed his hand, tied his hands and legs, and fled with cash and valuables worth ₹4,91,625.
The incident took place around 1 a.m. near Window No. 10 at Pune Railway Station. The injured employee has been identified as Kelvin Solomon Maila, a resident of Dhayarkar Colony in Mundhwa.
According to the police, Maila works as a ticket checker at Pune Railway Station. He was carrying cash collected from ticket sales and fines imposed on passengers travelling without tickets and was on his way to deposit the money at the booking office.
At that time, two unidentified men allegedly intercepted him. One of them reportedly held a knife to his neck and threatened him before attacking his right hand with the weapon. The accused then allegedly assaulted him and stole ₹26,685 in cash from his pocket.
They also allegedly snatched his gold chain and two mobile phones. After the robbery, the accused tied Maila’s hands and legs and stuffed a handkerchief into his mouth before escaping from the spot.
A case has been registered at Bund Garden Police Station, and Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Chavan is conducting further investigation.
The incident at the busy railway station has once again raised concerns over the security of passengers and railway staff, particularly during late-night hours.
