Railway News: Shyam Sunder Gupta Transferred to Railway Board as Principal Executive Director

New Delhi, 07th February 2026: The Ministry of Railways has transferred Shyam Sunder Gupta, HAG officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS), to the Railway Board, where he has been posted as Principal Executive Director (Infrastructure). He will assume the new assignment following the voluntary retirement of Pranai Prabhakar, IRTS, effective February 20, 2026.

Prior to this transfer, Shyam Gupta was serving as Principal Chief Operations Manager (PCOM) of Central Railway. The transfer has been made with the approval of the President.

Shyam Gupta is a 1992-batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service and has served in multiple key operational and managerial roles across various zonal railways. His previous assignments include postings on Western Railway, South Central Railway, South East Central Railway, Central Railway, and Northern Railway. During his career, he has held positions such as Chief Freight Transportation Manager, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, Chief Commercial Manager, Chief Transportation Planning Manager, Chief Public Relations Officer, and Chief Administrative Officer (Systems) on Northern Railway.

He has been recognised with the Railway Minister’s Award in 2001 and the General Manager’s Award in 2010. Gupta is also a gold medallist and was adjudged Best Participant of the 32nd Advanced Management Programme conducted by the National Academy of Indian Railways, Vadodara.
