Railway: Pune Division Hosts Media Tour of Upgraded Kedgaon, Lonand Railway Stations

Pune, 19 May 2025: A press tour showcasing the redevelopment of Kedgaon and Lonand railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was conducted today by Pune Division of Indian Railways. The tour aimed to provide media representatives with an overview of the infrastructure enhancements completed ahead of the scheduled inauguration on May 22, 2025.

The press tour commenced from the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office in Pune and included participants from both print and electronic media. During the tour, officials briefed the media on the key features of the upgraded facilities and their anticipated impact on passenger services.

Kedgaon Station has undergone redevelopment at a cost of ₹12.54 crore. Key features include a new cover over platform (COP), ramps for improved accessibility, redesigned entry and exit points, enhanced circulating areas, and upgraded parking facilities. The station façade now includes sandstone cladding and traditional motifs illuminated with LED lighting. Additional improvements include a modernised booking office, new waiting halls, toilet blocks for men, women, and Divyangjan passengers, tactile paving, improved platform shelters, and digital information systems such as GPS-synced clocks and coach guidance systems.

Lonand Station has been redeveloped at a cost of ₹10.47 crore. Major upgrades include a new entrance hall, a modern booking office and concourse, revamped gates, and a perimeter compound wall. Platform enhancements feature resurfaced areas, a cover over platform with portico, and upgraded seating. Landscaping and circulation improvements have also been carried out. Passenger amenities now include Divyangjan-friendly toilet facilities, a new waiting room on Platform No. 1, and upgraded information systems including LED display boards and automated announcements.

The media delegation reviewed the changes at both stations, observing the structural, aesthetic, and functional developments aimed at improving the commuter experience.

The Kedgaon and Lonand station redevelopments are part of a broader initiative in which 20 stations in Pune Division are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
