Pune, 20th May 2025: To celebrate World Bee Day on May 20, city-based bee conservationist Devendra Jani collaborated with the Central Bee Research and Training Institute (CBRTI) to spark curiosity and compassion in the next generation.
Children from Pune were invited to a special Bee Museum tour at the institute. Under the guidance of Devendra and the research team, the young visitors explored engaging exhibits about the lives of bees, their role in pollination, and their impact on food security. This interactive session opened young eyes to the world of bees—filled with purpose and wonder.
“We urge citizens and youth to understand the importance of bees and visit our institute to learn about our conservation projects,” said CBRTI Director Kiran Uike.
Following the museum tour, the children participated in an art competition, transforming their new knowledge into vibrant works celebrating bees and nature. Their creativity reflected a deep appreciation for these small but mighty creatures.
Meanwhile, at the Rupa Bajaj Institute of Art, a nature-themed art exhibition showcased works by emerging and established artists. In a beautiful act of linking nature with creativity, Devendra Jani gifted each participating artist a bee-friendly plant sapling, encouraging biodiversity not just through art but through action.
This World Bee Day celebration highlighted how education, creativity, and community efforts can come together to shape a future where bees thrive—and we thrive with them.
“Let us all contribute to protecting the pollinators that feed and inspire us,” said Devendra Jani.
