Railways to give elderly transgender passenger 40 percent discount

Pune – So far, the Railway Board used to give concession during the travels in 53 categories, but for the first time, the transgender passengers aged over 60 years will get 40% concession.

Earlier, Railways and IRCTC had included transgender as the third gender in addition to women and men in ticket reservations and ticket cancellation forms. Now facilities for transgenders are being increased in the railways.

From January 1, 2019, transgender senior citizen, aged above 60 years, will get 40% concession. A circular in this regard has been issued by Shelly Srivastava, director passenger marketing, to all the Principal Chief Commercial Managers of all the Zonal Railways of the country. So far as senior citizen, a 60-year-old male gets 40 percent and a woman of 58 years is given 50 percent concession.

Government has given many facilities to the transgenders. They are given the status of third gender. The Income Tax Department has made arrangements separately for women and men in addition to changing the rules and also in the PAN card.
