Rain In Pune To Continue Till Sunday

Pune, 16th September 2022: It has been raining continuously since last night all over Pune city. Waterlogging is being reported in many low lying areas.

Meanwhile, Pune Fire Brigade has appealed to take precautions when traveling. “In view of the continuous rainfall, citizens should take care and avoid traveling in rivers, drains and streams. Vehicles in the river should be moved and animals should also be taken care of. In view of the amount of rain in the next few hours, everyone should be cautious as there is a possibility that the discharge from the dam will increase.”

 

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rain in Pune will be there till Sunday.

 

Pune City experienced light to moderate

rainfall in the last 24 hours. Till 8.30 am today, rainfall recorded in various areas –

Shivajinagar: 14.8 mm

Pashan: 18.5 mm

Lohegaon: 9.2 mm

Chinchwad: 23.0 mm

Magarpatta: 8.0 mm

Forecast for today (September 16): Generally cloudy sky, few intense spells,

light (2.5-15.5 mm) to moderate rain (15.6-

64.4 mm) very likely, heavy (64.5-115.5

mm) to isolated very heavy (115.6-204.4

mm) rainfall in ghat areas.

 

Impact:

• Drastic reduction in visibility, very

slippery road during period of

intense spell.

• Damaged roads with huge potholes

filled with water.

• Major disruption of traffic flow.

• Water logging in parts of low-lying areas

adjacent to river banks/ghats.

• Possibility of falling/uprooting of

roadside trees/branches etc.

• Possibility of minor landslides in

elevated hilly areas beside roads.

• Minor disruption in telephone /

electrical services.

Partly cloudy sky becoming Generally

cloudy sky towards afternoon/evening,

light rain (2.5-15.5 mm) very likely,

isolated heavy rain (64.5-115.5 mm) in

ghat areas.
