Rain Lashed Many Parts Of Pune City; Shivajinagar Records 19.4 mm

Pune, 12th April 2021: The unseasonal rain lashed the Pune city for nearly an hour on Monday evening. Associated with lightning and thunderstorm, the rain disrupted life on the eve of Marathi New Year. Shivajinagar recorded 19.4 mm rain while Lohegaon 0.7 mm.

The city recorded 19 mm rainfall as the rain lashed areas like Kothrud, Bibvewadi, Sinhgad road, Baner, Aundh, Sangvi, Dhayari, Lohegaon, Vishrantwadi and several other parts. The power supply was hit at many places. Similarly, the roads were waterlogged.  

The rain caught residents who had stepped out for shopping on the eve of Marathi New year. With the power supply being hit, the shoppers found it difficult to cater to the needs of the customers. 

Low pressure belt

As predicted by Indian Meteorological Department, Pune, a low-pressure belt has been created over south Tamil Nadu to the South of the Konkan region brought precipitation. Similarly, the trough line passing through southwestern Madhya Pradesh to Marathwada has disappeared.

The entire Maharashtra State along with Goa saw the rain on Monday. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at Jalgaon 41.3 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature was recorded at Mahabaleshwar at 18.0 degree Celsius.  

IMD has predicted rains for the next few days in the state.
