Pune, 9th July 2024: Dams in the Pune area received significant rainfall yesterday, increasing their water levels. The Khadakwasla dam chain, crucial for Pune’s water supply, recorded over 30 mm of rainfall. However, today, there was no rain in Pune.

For the past few days, Pune has experienced a lack of rainfall despite the onset of the monsoon. From yesterday, the monsoon has become active again, leading to increased rainfall. Earlier, the decreasing dam storage posed a threat of water scarcity for Pune residents in the upcoming days, but this concern is now expected to diminish. Heavy rains are anticipated in the dam catchment areas, which have already seen some drizzle on Monday, significantly boosting dam reservoir levels.

Rainfall in Dams on Monday:

– Temghar Dam: 38 mm
– Varasgaon Dam: 34 mm
– Panshet Dam: 36 mm
– Khadakwasla Dam: 34 mm
