Rajasthan: 48 Women and Children Kidnapped After Being Attacked By 100 Men

Jaipur, January 7, 2021: Nearly 100 people, who came from the border village of Kalriya in Madhya Pradesh attacked the camps of Kanjar Samaj located in Deoria of Unela Police Station area of Jhalawar district in Rajasthan. These people were armed with weapons. They created a huge uproar and kidnapped a total of 48 people including women and children. 

On receiving information about the incident on Wednesday, a team of three police stations in Jhalawar district, while taking action, arrested 10 people who had created a ruckus till Thursday morning, the search is on for the rest. Police freed the women and children from their clutches. Jhalawar District Superintendent of Police, Dr.Kiran Siddha said that the captured people have received indigenous Katta, two live cartridges, swords and sticks.

In fact, about 100 people from Kalaria village in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh attacked the Kanjar Samaj camp located in Kalaria village of Jhalawar with weapons with a case of theft on Wednesday evening. These people came on a bus and two jeeps. Seeing the people who came with weapons, the men of Kanjar society fled from the spot and they took women and children with them in buses and jeeps. On receiving the information, the police of Jhalawar district reached the spot and chased them down.

When the Superintendent of Police received information, he sent additional police force from two other police stations. As police pressure increased, they escaped leaving 38 women and children in the Alot area of Madhya Pradesh. The Jhalawar police reached the spot and took them back with them. Police have arrested 10 people so far. All of them were leading the crowd while carrying out the incident, the rest are absconding.

Superintendent of Police Sidhu said that the accused took this action on suspicion of theft cases against the people of Kanjar Samaj living in the camps of Deoria and Hajadia village. He stated that about 100 people of Kalsi village of Madhya Pradesh arrived on buses of Kanjar Samaj on Wednesday from buses, jeeps, and bikes in Madhya Pradesh. When they did not find men in the area, they forcibly took women and children with them. 

On receiving the information, the police officer Bhanwar Singh arrived at the scene and then further action was carried out. Those arrested by the police include Suresh Singh, Suraj Singh, Bahadur Singh, Chatar Singh, Surendra Singh, Mahendra Singh, Narayan Singh, Guman Singh, Sangram Singh and Ratan, residents of the Alot Police Station area of Madhya Pradesh. A native Katta, two live cartridges, a sharp sword, two iron plates, iron chains, and sticks were recovered from their possession.
