Pune, 22nd March 2023: The holy month of Ramzan is set to commence on Friday, as the crescent moon has not been sighted today in Pune.

The Hilal Committee of Pune, which monitors the sighting of the moon, announced that the beginning of the holy month would be observed from March 24th.

During this month, Muslims across the world observe fast, perform prayers and engage in charitable acts. The month-long fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam and commemorates the first revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad. It is believed that fasting during Ramzan helps one to attain spiritual discipline, social empathy, and physical endurance.

With the holy month starting, markets in the city are already bustling with preparations, including the sale of dates and other food items that are traditionally consumed during Ramzan.
