Ravindra Dhangekar Is an ‘Accidental MLA’, Works Less and Speaks More, Says DCM Devendra Fadnavis in Pune

Kasba Peth, 16th November 2024: Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, visited Pune today to campaign for the Mahayuti alliance’s candidate, Hemant Rasane, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Kasba Peth constituency. Speaking at a rally ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Fadnavis criticised the incumbent MLA, Ravindra Dhangekar, labelling him an “Accidental MLA” who “makes more noise and does less work.”
Fadnavis was joined by BJP Pune City President Dheeraj Ghate and several prominent leaders, including Rajesh Pandey, Deepak Mankar, Jagdish Mulik, Sanjay Sonawane, Swarada Bapat, Kunal Tilak, Gaurav Bapat, Sandeep Khardekar, Ajay Khedekar, Manisha Ladkat, and Uday Lele, as they rallied support for Rasane.
Drawing a parallel to the film The Accidental Prime Minister, which depicted former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Fadnavis compared Dhangekar to the film’s protagonist. He stated, “The Accidental MLA after the Kasba constituency by-election is like the Accidental PM. This MLA makes more noise and does less work. On a drama stage, he’d excel in a role like To Mi Navhech (That Wasn’t Me). I don’t even need to comment on his performance as an MLA.”
Fadnavis also accused the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) of adopting divisive tactics to win minority votes, referring to it as “Vote Jihad.” Stressing the significance of the upcoming elections for future generations, he urged voters to stand firm against such strategies.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted Pune’s development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, referencing metro expansions, improved bus systems, AI-based traffic solutions, and the Ring Road project. He commended Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving key infrastructure projects. Additionally, Fadnavis announced plans for a new airport in Pune and proposed updates to SRA rules to benefit the region.
