Pune, 9th August 2022: It has come to light that experts who guide in programs such as post-service entrance examination and training by the Technical Education Department of the state government are being hired on meagre remuneration.

According to the 2011 government policy, expert guides are paid Rs 1,250 for three-hour sessions, the amount paid to expert guides is less than the remuneration given to hourly rate (CHB) professors in technical and engineering colleges in the state.

CHB professors in the technical branch in the state are paid Rs 500 per hour, while CHB professors in engineering colleges are paid Rs 600 per hour. Expert mentors are invited by the Technical Education Department for programs like post-service entrance examination and training.

However, it was revealed during the recent departmental service post-entry training that they are being paid as low as Rs 1,250 for a three-hour session. Government decision 2011 has been referred for this remuneration. Therefore, it can be seen that there has been no increase in the rates of remuneration given to expert guides in the last eleven years.

An expert guide said, “Government employees are paid according to Pay Commission. But the expert guides who guide the government employees are paid very meagre remuneration. It is a shame that it has not been increased by the government over the years.” He further informed that this salary should be increased according to the situation.

“Admittedly, the remuneration paid to expert guides is low. But according to the government decision, remuneration has to be paid. Now the proposal to revise the rates and increase it will be submitted to the government. Remuneration will be paid as per the revised rate if the proposal is accepted,” said Dr D.V. Jadhav, Pune Divisional Joint Director
