Republic Day Honors: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Inspector Vasant Babar and PTC Inspector Dilip Tadakhe Awarded President’s Police Medal For Meritorious Service

Pune, 26th January 2024: Two Police inspectors, Vasant Babar of the Pimpri Chinchwad police and Dilip Tadakhe from the Police Training Centre in Nanveej, Daund, have been selected to receive the prestigious President’s Police Medal for meritorious service, as announced in a statement by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the eve of Republic Day.

 

Inspector Vasant Babar, who began his career as a sub-inspector in 1996, boasts a 28-year-long career with the state police, serving in various regions such as Mumbai, Sangli, Satara, Kolhapur, and Pune Rural police before joining the Pimpri Chinchwad police. Throughout his service, Babar successfully resolved six sensitive murder cases, earning him 352 rewards and 23 certificates. In 2014, he was honored with the Director General of Police’s Insignia.

 

In addition to these two officers, the President’s Police Medal for meritorious service will be awarded to nine personnel from the Maharashtra Prisons Department. The Ministry of Home Affairs released a list indicating that the state police force has secured 18 medals for gallantry, four President’s medals for distinguished service, and 40 medals for meritorious service. Six fire personnel in Maharashtra have also been honored with medals for meritorious service.
