Mundhwa, 2nd February 2024: The officials from Mundhwa police station, Pune City Police, successfully located a 38-year-old man, who had been missing for several months. The man, originally from a rural area in Buldhana, left his native village over a decade ago to pursue competitive exams in Pune.

The individual’s journey began in 2012 when he left his home without informing his family, driven by the aspiration to study for competitive exams in Pune. Despite facing financial challenges and familial objections, the individual persevered, working part-time and preparing for Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exams. However, the constant setbacks in the competitive exams took a toll on his mental health, leading to his disappearance from his rented room in Mundhwa on 15th October 2023.

Upon receiving a missing person complaint, authorities, under the leadership of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi, initiated a thorough investigation. Utilizing technical analysis and diligent efforts, the police successfully located the individual and brought him to the police station.

During questioning, the individual revealed the details of his journey, expressing the challenges he faced and the depression that ensued from repeated failures in competitive exams. Recognizing the gravity of the situation and the emotional toll on the individual, Senior Police Inspector Bolkotgi took the initiative to contact the sarpanch and parents of the individual’s native village, Katoda.

The news of the individual’s discovery was initially met with disbelief by his family and the village authorities. However, through repeated verification and inquiries, the truth was established. The individual’s parents were overwhelmed with emotion upon seeing their son after 12 years. The reunion was marked by tears of joy, and the village sarpanch, along with other citizens, expressed gratitude to the authorities for their dedicated efforts in reuniting the family.

The successful resolution of this case reflects the commendable performance of the Mundhwa Police team, including Assistant Police Inspector Raju Mahanor, and Police Personnel Mahesh Pathak, Datta Jadhav, Dinesh Bhandurge, Yogesh Gaikwad, and Hemant Perne.
