Road Rage in Pune’s Pimple Saudagar: Cab Window Smashed, Bystander Slapped Amid Traffic

Pimple Saudagar, 25th November 2024: A road rage incident occurred in Pune’s Pimple Saudagar, where a cab driver’s car was vandalised, the driver was verbally abused, and a bystander was slapped by an unidentified individual. A video of the incident is currently going viral. The cab driver, out of fear, fled the scene, while the bystander was in the process of filing a complaint at the Sangvi Police Station.
The altercation began when a cab and a two-wheeler were travelling from Shivar Garden Chowk on Kunal Icon Road in Pimple Saudagar. Amid traffic near Ganesh Bhel in Pimple Saudagar, the cab slightly rear-ended the two-wheeler, causing the rider to lose balance. When the cab driver stopped to check on the situation, the two-wheeler rider parked in front of the car and began punching the cab windows with a thick metal bangle, attempting to break the glass. When the glass did not shatter, the two-wheeler rider grabbed a medium-sized rock from nearby and smashed the car’s right-side window before fleeing the scene on his vehicle.
Before leaving, the two-wheeler rider also slapped a bystander who was watching, saying, “What are you looking at?” The cab driver, frightened by the events, quickly left the spot. Officers from the Sangvi Traffic Division of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) arrived on the scene to investigate, and the bystander, who was slapped, recounted the incident to them. He is currently registering a formal complaint at the Pimple Saudagar Police Chowky.

A police constable at the scene told Punekar News, “A road rage incident has occurred. We will investigate further. We are working to identify the registration numbers of both vehicles involved. The bystander was assaulted without cause, and we have directed him to file a complaint with the Sangvi Police.”
