Warje, 2nd February 2026: In a major breakthrough in the firing incident at Bollywood director Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai, Pune Police’s Warje Malwadi police station detained five suspects on Sunday afternoon and handed them over to the Mumbai Police for further investigation.

The suspects were picked up from the Warje area after local police received specific intelligence that the accused were hiding in Pune following the shooting at Shetty’s Juhu residence late Saturday night. No one was injured in the incident.

“Based on technical inputs and local intelligence, we detained five suspects from the Warje area. They have been handed over to the Mumbai Police. We are probing the conspiracy behind the firing and whether any organized crime syndicate is involved,” said Sambhaji Kadam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pune.

The detained individuals have been identified as Aman Anand Marote (27), Aditya Gyaneshwar Gaike (19, Karve Nagar), Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20, Dhayari), Samarth Shivshankar Pomaji (18, Dhayari), and Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23, Dhayari, Pune). According to police, none of the suspects have any prior criminal cases registered against them.

Preliminary investigation suggests a possible link between the accused and the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, police said this angle is still being verified.

Police sources said some of the suspects work as daily wage labourers, handcart vendors, and drivers. The motive behind the firing and the extent of gang involvement are under detailed investigation by Mumbai Police.
