RTA Approves Proposal To Start Share Auto Rickshaw From Pune Metro Stations
Pune 10th August 2023: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on Wednesday approved the proposal to start share auto rickshaw service to provide better connectivity to the Pune Metro users. The proposal aims to connect commuters using Pune Metro service with other parts of the city. The RTA has also finalised the rates to be charged from consumers. Dedicated ‘Share A Auto Rickshaw’ stops have been allotted at all the functional metro stations in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad.
These auto rickshaws can also operate as per meter wherever the commuters want to travel alone or with family instead of sharing the ride with others. According to the revised rates, the auto rickshaws will earn more than normal meter bill using this facility. Similarly, the commuters will also pay less under this initiative compared to his normal meter bill while travelling alone.
A total of 46 such routes have been allotted in Pimpri Chinchwad while 79 such routes have been allotted for this service in Pune city. The final decision was taken after the auto rickshaw unions agreed with the authorities. Earlier, a survey was conducted by the officials to assess the possibility and options to start auto rickshaw sharing service from metro stations.
