SAE TIFAN 2019: ‘India’s Onion Harvester’ Innovation from Young Hands of Country !!

Amrutvahini College of Engineering( Sangamner) Wins ‘SAE TIFAN 2019 ‘ competition of making ‘Self Propelled Onion Harvester’,With prize of Rs.2 lakh and Trophy. Padmabhooshan Vasantraodada Patil Institute of Technology( Budhgaon, Sangli )is first runner up of this competition and bagged prize of Rs1 lakh , D Y Patil College of Engineering & Technology, Kolhapur is second runner up of this competition and bagged prize of Rs.50 thousand and Trophy
TIFAN– Technology Innovation Forum for Agricultural Nurturing, is organized by SAE off-highway board alongwith John Deere, Cummins, Mahindra& Mahindra, BKT, Altair, Ansys, ARAI, Kirloskar and many other leading OEMs.
23 teams out of 26 completed all the rounds of evaluation on 18th March ,successfully at Mahatma Phule Krushi Vidyapeeth,Rahuri(Ahmednagar). The static evaluation conducted on 18thMarch and dynamic evaluation happened on next two days.
The award distribution happened on 20th March,in the hands of Dr. K.P. Vishwanath( Vice Chancellor MPKV, Rahuri), Dr. Indra Mani(President ISAE), Dr. D.D.Pawar( Registrar & Associate Dean, MPKV) and Troyden D Cruz(Sr General Manager HR, John Deere TCI), Nilesh Pathak(Head, Module Engineering, John Deere India )and Mr. Sandeep Mahajan, (General Manager John Deere & Convener TIFAN 2019).
TIFAN is organized by SAE off-highway board at pan India level. TIFAN is being organized annually with a new Real Challenge Theme every three (3) years starting from 2018. The problem statement / challenge will be related to farm operation related to ‘Land Preparation’, ‘Intercultural operation’ & ‘Crop Harvesting’. The competition is being held in 2 stages viz: Virtual round and Final round. This year of the second year of having theme of ‘Self Propelled Onion Harvester’. Upgradation of complexity for second year of theme as per evaluation criterion were Innovation, Productivity, Efficiency, Fuel Economy, Cost and Ease of Operation.
The inauguration of TIFAN happened on 18thMarch with presence of Dr. K.P. Vishwanath, Vice Chancellor MPKV, Rahuri, Abhijit Varade, Business Director, John Deere Technology Center India, Dr. D.D. Pawar Associate Dean, MPKV Rahuri, Mr. Sanjay Nibandhe, Chairman SAE India Western Section, Mr. Nilesh Pathak, HeadModule Engineering, John Deere India and Mr. Krishnat Patil, General Manager& Ex Convener, John Deere and Mr Sandeep Mahajan, General Manager, John Deere India & Convener TIFAN 2019. Vishal Chaubey from John Deere & Ankita Bhavsar from Aakash Coaching anchored the event.
Mr. Sandeep Mahajan welcomed all the distinguished dignitaries on stage and narrated the journey of TIFAN and its motivation towards engaging the talent from the country to the real-life challenges of the agricultural sector. Abhijeet Varade briefed about India’s engineering talent mission and the role of young talent in shaping the vision. Mr. Sanjay Nibandhe talked about the role of SAE India in developing the talent in the country. Mr. Nilesh Pathak talked about the SAE Off-highway forum & the various initiatives towards society development. Dr. K. P. Vishwanath, appreciated SAE India &TIFAN team for such a great initiative and explained its importance in solving the various challenges in front of farmers.
