Sancheti Hospital Launches Covid Vaccination For Transgender Community In Pune

Pune, 13th July 2021: As part of the ” Covid -19 Vaccine Initiative”, 169 transgender were vaccinated on 1st day at Sancheti hospital here on Monday. Sancheti Hospital has set up an exclusive vaccination centre at the Sancheti Hospital here for the transgender community from July 12 to 15 in association with VaxAll and Robin Hood organisation.

 

Dr. Parag Sancheti, Chairman of Sancheti Hospital, Pune, said, “Helping government in its rapid vaccination drive is everybody’s responsibility. Health care is a right of all citizens and vaccinations are no different. We are happy that Sancheti hospital is able to host the drive to vaccinate the transgender community and also all those who do not even have identification proof. PMC additional commissioner Rubal Agarwal has been instrumental in ensuring vaccinations for all including those without any identification”.

Serum CEO Adar Poonawala also visited Sancheti Hospital and said that he will ensure that vaccines are available at Sancheti for the transgender community. Poonawala said that transgender community should be given dignity and equal rights in society.

 

Also, Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi graced the occasion. She said, “This is a wonderful initiative to support one of the most challenged sections of our society. It is my privilege to be part of this unique programme and I am thankful to Sancheti Hospital, Serum Institute & VaxAll for their support.”
