Savitribai Phule Pune University Extends PhD Admission Deadline for NET Qualifiers

Pune, 28th October 2024: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has announced an extended opportunity for students who have appeared for the National Eligibility Test (NET) exam to apply for PhD admission. Eligible candidates must have also passed the Pre-PhD Admission Test (PET) conducted by the university. The deadline for submitting PhD admission applications is set for November 5.
The Pre-PhD Admission Exam was held on August 31 for vacant PhD seats across various research centers at SPPU. Following the announcement of the exam results, the university provided mentors at these research centers a deadline to update the number of available PhD positions. This deadline has now been extended to November 5, leading to an anticipated increase in PhD admission vacancies.
This year marks the first time the University Grants Commission (UGC) has allowed students with specific qualifying marks from the NET exam to apply for PhD admission. Consequently, candidates who have qualified through the NET are encouraged to fill out the admission application form.
The UGC NET exam was conducted between August 21 and September 5 by the National Testing Agency. Students who have passed this exam and have also qualified in the PET can apply for PhD admission at SPPU until November 5. It is important to note that only those candidates who have successfully cleared both the PET and NET examinations are eligible to apply for PhD admission.
Application fees are set at Rs 500 for open category students and Rs 400 for reserved category students. Interested candidates can submit their applications via the following link: [SPPU PhD Admission](https://bcud.unipune.ac.in/Phd/Ph.D_Addmission/index.html).
