SC Grants Bail To NCP Leader Nawab Malik For Two Months On Medical Grounds

Pune 11th August 2023: The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to the former minister of Maharashtra and senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for two months on the medical grounds. Malik will walk out of jail after over 18 months after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who was appearing for the ED did not object to the bail.

Kapil Sibbal who appeared for Nawab Malik in the court said that he has been undergoing treatment for a kidney ailment for the last 16 months. Malik is already admitted to the Criticare Hospital for treatment. “As regards the main petition, let the counter affidavit be filed in five weeks, rejoinder thereafter within 3 weeks. List after 10 weeks” the court stated in the order while granting him bail.

It may be noted that Nawab Malik was arrested by ED in a money laundering case linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
