Schools Without School Bags: PCMC’s Unique Initiative Aims To Explore Creativity In Students At Govt Schools
Pimpri, September 20, 2023 : The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has introduced a unique initiative named ‘Daptaravina Shala’ (School without School Bag) in all 128 schools of the municipal corporation starting this Saturday. This innovative program aims to reduce the burden of school bags from the children’s shoulders by offering extra-curricular activities alongside regular studies, igniting enthusiasm for learning new and diverse things.
Under the initiative, every Saturday at the municipal schools turns into a day for various activities like songs, poetry, singing, quizzes, word games, cooking, art, and sports. The initiative aims to promote all-round development among students and nurture their curiosity for learning new things. This initiative has transformed the environment within municipal schools.
According to officials, the municipal schools have become centers for creativity and during Ganeshotsav, students are encouraged to create eco-friendly Ganesha idols on Saturday. This not only adds value to their artistic skills but also instills environmental awareness. By supporting such programs that encourage students in artistic pursuits, the schools have witnessed improvements in students’ overall development, physical and mental well-being and their dedication to environmental awareness, said PCMC officials.
Through ‘Daptaravina Shala,’ students have gained exposure to extracurricular activities beyond the traditional curriculum. Dance, music, fine arts, or drama – these creative programs have provided students with a different dimension for self-discovery and honing their talents. The Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “Daptaravina Shala has not only expanded students’ horizons but has also lightened their mental load. Parents and teachers have also appreciated this progressive initiative. By helping students break free from the confines of their textbooks, this program has contributed to their holistic development.”
In addition, the initiative has given students a break from the routine and paved the way for curiosity and life skills. It has lightened their mental burdens and these activities have been sustained in schools for several weeks. This initiative aims to provide students with valuable knowledge about curiosity and life skills, along with fostering responsibility and discipline.
‘With this initiative, students will not only excel academically but also in life skills and it has brought a sense of pride to the schools,” Singh said. He further emphasized that the program’s aim is to help students shine not only in the competitive world but also in the ever-evolving world of creativity and life skills, making Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Schools a nurturing ground for students.
