Scientist Dr Jayant Narlikar Chosen As President Of 94th Marathi Sahitya Sammelan
Pune, 25th January 2021: Renowned astrophysicist and author Dr Jayant Narlikar has been chosen as the president of the 94the All India Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (literary meet).
The selection was done by Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Mandal on January 24 (yesterday). The 94th Marathi Sahitya Sammelan will be held from 26 to 28 March at Nashik.
Dr Narlikar (82) has written science-related books in Marathi like ‘Yakshanchi Dengi’, ‘Vaman Parat Na Ala’, ‘Virus’, ‘Preshit’. He was awarded for his autobiography named ‘Char Nagratil Maze Vishwa’.
Narlikar is an Indian astrophysicist and emeritus professor at the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune. He developed with Sir Fred Hoyle the conformal gravity theory, known as Hoyle–Narlikar theory. It synthesises Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity and Mach’s principle
