Scorching February: Pune Witnesses May-Like Temperatures

Pune, 17th February 2025: Punekars are facing an unexpected spell of summer-like heat in February, as unseasonal temperatures soar past 37°C—levels typically recorded in May. In response, residents are resorting to scarves, hats, and cold beverages to shield themselves from the scorching sun.
The sudden heatwave has triggered a surge in demand for sugarcane juice, coconut water, and other refreshing drinks. Juice vendors across the city are witnessing increased footfall, with many customers opting for sugarcane juice infused with lemon and ginger, believed to help regulate body temperature.
The rising temperatures have also fueled a spike in sales of cooling appliances. Electronics stores report higher demand for air conditioners and coolers, while budget-conscious buyers are opting for fans to beat the heat.
With summer arriving early, Pune’s residents are bracing for an extended period of sweltering weather, taking necessary precautions to stay cool and protected from the soaring temperatures.
