Seven Private Hospitals in Pune Face Action for Not Displaying Patient Rights, Tariff
Pune, 11th August 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued show-cause notices to seven private hospitals in the city for failing to comply with mandatory display requirements under the Maharashtra Nursing Home Registration Act.
According to the Act, hospitals are required to prominently display information such as the Patient Rights Code, the hospital’s tariff list, the PMC’s toll-free complaint number, Form D (patient details), and a valid fire brigade no-objection certificate (NOC) on their facade.
The notices were sent on Monday to one hospital each in Kasba Peth, Ghole Road, and Kothrud, and four hospitals falling under the Aundh regional office area. The action follows a similar move last week when notices were issued to four other hospitals.
Assistant Health Officer Dr. Suryakant Deokar said the recent inspections revealed lapses such as the absence of tariff lists and the Patient Rights Code on the hospital facade, failure to display the toll-free complaint number, and the lack of a valid fire brigade NOC.
“The health department conducts inspections of private hospitals every six months, assessing compliance with display norms and other criteria. If violations are found, notices are issued, and the concerned hospitals are given a time-bound period to rectify the shortcomings,” Dr. Deokar said.
He added that the ongoing inspection drive is part of a special campaign, and hospitals served notices have been given 30 days to make the necessary corrections. Pune has around 850 hospitals and nursing homes, and PMC has warned that further action will be taken against facilities that fail to comply within the stipulated time.
