Shani Shingnapur row – Sri Sri Ravishankar to meet woman activist for discussion in Pune on Sunday

Pune, February 6 : In order to bring solution to controversy over women’s entry into the sanctum of Shani Shingnapur temple in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, Trupti Desai who has spearheaded campaign to allow women’s entry, has been invited by spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar   to discuss the issue.

Desai, president of Bhumata Brigade, alongwith 400 women volunteers had made an unsuccessful attempt to storm the ‘chauthara’ of the temple on January 26. Police had stopped them at Supa village, about 70 km away from the temple.

On January 26, at least 400 women volunteers, mainly hailing from Pune and led by Desai, , made an unsuccessful attempt to when police stopped the marchers at Supa village, 70 km from the temple.

The Art of Living session will be held on Sunday at Balewadi where Sri Sri will be present. Desai as well as a former trustee of the temple will also attend the meeting.

On Saturday, the shrine authorities and the activists held a round of talks mediated by the Ahmednagar district collector. Both sides said that the meeting ended on a “positive note” and expected Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take the process forward.
