Shatrughan Sinha vsits SIMC, Lavale
Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) celebrating its 25 years of excellence organized an event today – Cinema Story- A talk by veteran actor and Member of Parliament, Mr Shatrughan Sinha. Dignitaries present on the occasion- Dr Rajani Gupte, Vice-Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, Prof. Ruchi Jaggi, Director, SIMC and directors from other institutes of Symbiosis.
In her welcome address Prof Ruchi Jaggi praised the contribution of Mr Sinha in the film industry. “Mr Shatrughan Sinha is a reflection and transformation of Indian cinema. He is a strong and stellar figure of Hindi cinema. We hope and expect him to create more milestones in his life.”
Dr Rajni Gupte, Vice-Chancellor, Symbiosis International University in her speech stated, “The institute has scaled great heights. Students have won several accolades. Mr Sinhas films depict stories of life which one can relate to.”
Talking about his journey into the film industry to politics Mr Sinha said, “Back than not one actor from the film industry belonged to Bihar or Jharkhand. When I was graduating from FTII I was skeptical. My recently published autobiography –‘Anything, but Khamosh’ gives in details the story of my life. In the initial stages of my life in film industry the role I mostly played was of a villain. No other villain, apart from me was published in International magazines. The journey from a villain to actor was accepted by the audience. My journey should be a source of inspiration to many. I was not the typical bollywood looking actor, but my self-confidence ensured that people accept me as I am-Good, bad or ugly. Having no knowledge post my cinema journey I have entered politics and also have succeeded in the role as a Cabinet Minister.”
Talking about the Marathi film industry he said, “Marathi film industry is booming and movies like Saairat are showcasing and giving a platform to these amateur actors.”
As a concluding note he adds, “Passion, commitment, dedication, devotion gives comfort level which help you to conquer your goals. If you are unable to prove yourself better than the best, then prove yourself different from the rest.”
The students of the dance and poetry group of SIMC organized a dance performance on popular songs of legendary actor like Jaanu meri jaan, jaare ja o hardai among others.
