Sheetal Devi from Jammu and Kashmir Honored with Arjuna Award for Sporting Excellence

National, 9th January 2024: They say when courage is high, even the toughest goals become achievable. This is precisely what Indian daughter Sheetal Devi has proven. Hailing from a small village in Jammu and Kashmir, Sheetal, despite having no hands, hoisted the country’s flag by winning medals in the Para Asian Games. Sheetal Devi, adept at archery with her feet, clinched a gold medal at last year’s Para Asian Games, honored with the prestigious Arjuna Award for her remarkable achievement.

 

The world’s number one para archer, Sheetal Devi, had secured two gold medals and a silver in the Para Asian Games. After creating a stir at the Asian Games, when Sheetal returned to India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised her determination.
