Pune, 17th February 2024: Pankaj Deshmukh, Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, addressed the media today, outlining the security measures and schedule for the upcoming Shiv Jayanti celebrations at Shivneri Fort in Junnar taluka of Pune district.

In a bid to enhance security and manage the large gathering expected on Shiv Jayanti, Deshmukh announced the deployment of a substantial contingent comprising 1100 police personnel and home guards. The celebrations are scheduled for February 19th.

Traditionally, the Shivneri Fort program commences at half-past nine in the morning in the presence of the Chief Minister. However, Deshmukh revealed that this year, efforts are being made to start the program earlier and conclude by half-past nine. After the event, attendees will be allowed to explore the fort from 10 o’clock onwards.

Addressing public concerns, Deshmukh requested people to begin climbing the fort after ten o’clock, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the specified timeline.

Following the Shiv Jayanti celebrations, a crucial meeting with the Chief Minister is typically held. Deshmukh mentioned a change in the location of this meeting, which is usually held at the start of the fort. This time, the meeting is scheduled to take place within the fort, specifically beyond the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has granted permission for this alteration.

As preparations are underway for this significant event, the police force is focused on ensuring a safe and smooth celebration at Shivneri Fort.
