Shoot of First-Ever Hindi Web Series Depicting Life Story and Struggles of Veer Savarkar Begins

Pune, 18th October 2023: The shooting of ‘Veer Savarkar – Secret Files,’ the first web series to depict the life story of the renowned freedom fighter in Hindi, commenced at Raj Wada of Bhor on the auspicious occasion of Ghatasthapana.

Present at the occasion were Yogesh Soman, the director and writer of the series; Dr. Anirban Sarkar, producer and chairman of Deccan Group of companies; Ajay Kamble, director of Deccan A V Media; Sachi Gadhave, production head; Prasad Bhende, cinematographer; Siddharth Tatuskar, production designer; and Mahesh Kore, art director.

Yogesh Soman said, “Veer Savarkar dedicated his entire life, along with that of his family, for the freedom of the nation. Unfortunately, very few people know about him. We feel that his contributions must be brought into the spotlight. While we are not aiming to answer his critics, our goal is to present Veer Savarkar’s personality as accurately as possible, based on historical evidence.”

“Savarkar’s life spanned almost a century. Our effort is to inspire people and dispel misunderstandings created for political and social interests. Savarkar had no guru, except Shivaji Maharaj. He was a born leader. ‘Veer Savarkar – Secret Files’ is our attempt to reveal aspects of Savarkar that are not widely known to the public,” added Soman.

He further noted that while there have been dramas and films on Savarkar, this will be the first web series dedicated to him. The series will have four seasons, with the first covering the period from Savarkar’s birth in 1883 to his dramatic escape from a steamship at the port of Marseilles.

Dr. Anirban Sarkar said, “Savarkar was a revolutionary from birth. His true character needs to be presented to society. Many are unaware of his actual contributions to the freedom struggle and the sacrifices he made. This web series aims to shed light on his struggles and contributions. We hope it will help people better understand Savarkar. Realizing a web series based on his life has been a dream of mine, and it is about to be fulfilled through this project.”
