Pune, September 30, 2019 : BJP state president Chandrakant Dada Patil is scheduled to contest from Kothrud constituency in Pune, and his official announcement will be made shortly.
Apart from this, the party has decided to nominate former MP Anil Shirole’s son Siddharth Shirole from Shivajinagar in Pune. The ticket of the incumbent MLA Vijay Kale has been cut from this constituency. Anil Shirole was assured that his son Siddharth would get a chance when he was denied the Lok Sabha nomination. There was talk that Shivajinagar constituency would go to Shiv Sena. However, here the BJP has decided to give a candidate from a loyal family.
Many were interested in the party in this constituency. However, they have decided to nominate Siddharth Shirole from Shivajinagar. He was going to get a nomination in the last election in 2014. But it was rejected because of strong opposition. Now, five years later, his desire will be fulfilled.
According to sources, the party urged Patil to contest. He has agreed to obey. Kothrud is the BJP’s stronghold. The incumbent MLA Medha Kulkarni had won by a large margin. The party got a good lead here in the Lok Sabha elections.
There was talk that Chandrakant Dada Patil would be contesting from Kolhapur. However, he has chosen Kothrud, the most secure constituency for the BJP. Since Patil is an MLC of the Legislative Council, he was often chided by the opposition leaders. Sharad Pawar himself criticized that Patil was not elected by the people. For that, it will no longer happen, Patil has now decided to contest openly.
As the state BJP president himself will now contest from Kothrud, the opportunity for Medha Kulkarni is lost. Also, Muralidhar Mohol and other aspirants will have to wait a few more years now.
Sources said that the name of Mayor Mukta Tilak is sealed from Kasaba Peth constituency. Tilak’s candidature has also made it clear that Kulkarni will not get the ticket this time.
Mukta Tilak has been mayor of Pune for the last two and half years. Since Girish Bapat was elected to the Lok Sabha, change was expected here. Accordingly, names of Mukta Tilak, corporator Hemant Rasne, Ganesh Bidkar, Dheeraj Ghate were discussed here. However, the party seems to favor Tilak as a woman and senior corporator. A meeting was held in Delhi on Sunday under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to determine the party’s Maharashtra candidates.
The final list of candidates will be announced soon by the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, four candidates have been confirmed in Jalgaon district, including Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan, former minister Eknath Khadse.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is strong in Jalgaon district. Therefore, there is a large crowd of aspirants in the party for the assembly elections.
However, it is now reported that the party has decided to re-nominate Eknath Khadse from Muktainagar. Besides, Girish Mahajan, the present water resources minister from Jamner, is sure, there was talk of fighting from Pachora or Jalgaon in the meantime. However, it is now certain that he will fight from Jamner.
