Recently, Rotary Club of Pune Mideast had organized an unique fashion show and competition, ‘Shape the Junk’. The idea behind the competition was to show how waste products can be recycled and through one’s creativity develop new fashion ideas.

Amongst the many colleges that participated, Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT) students bagged the first prize. The team comprised of Swapnali Deshpande, Shruti Agarwal and Priyanka Mantri, and their theme was called ‘Paper Doll’.

“The contest was about collecting the junk within 2 minutes from the collected waste and making your own creation from it. Their design was a draped garment from shoulder to waist and the lower part was attached with paper fans and they even made paper headgear. After the design was ready, every model had to walk on the ramp showcasing their creation”, explains Prof. Dr. Sanjay Chordiya, Chairperson, Suryadatta Group of Institutes.

Every group showed their creativity and talent.

It was a proud moment when the SIFT team were declared the winners and were awarded a trophy and certificates and gift vouchers worth Rs.2000.
