Significant Contribution of Cooperative Banks to Economic Development: Ramesh Tawadkar

Pune, 19th December 2024: “The network of state and district central cooperative banks extends to rural areas. As people in rural regions are closely connected to these banks, they play a vital role in strengthening the rural economy and contributing to the country’s economic development. These banks work to provide financial support to the common people,” said Ramesh Tawadkar, Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly.

E-Plus Intellectual Media and Eventalist recently organized the ‘Ingenious Banking Leadership Summit and Iconic Leaders Awards’ for state and district central cooperative banks. Five state cooperative banks and 16 district central cooperative banks were awarded. The event was organized by E-Plus Intellectual Media’s CEO Zahid Siddiqui, Managing Director Sabina Inamdar Siddiqui, and Director Pareshit Deshmukh.

The event was attended by Goa’s Minister of Social Justice Subhash Phal Desai, MLA Sankalp Amonkar, National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) President Dilip Sanghani, former Managing Director of Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank Pramod Karnad, Chairman of Goa State Cooperative Bank Ulhas Faldesai, along with chairpersons, directors, and other officials from state and district cooperative banks across the country. Companies providing technology, systems, and security equipment for banking showcased their products during the event.

Subhash Phal Desai stated, “Since the establishment of an independent Ministry of Cooperation at the central level, the approach of the central government and the Reserve Bank towards cooperative banks has become highly positive. Therefore, cooperative banks must adopt new technologies to ensure greater transparency in financial transactions while also focusing on strengthening cybersecurity.” Pramod Karnad, Ulhas Faldesai, and Dilip Sanghani highlighted the importance of cooperative banks and guided the attendees.

Zahid Siddiqui commented, “This summit was significant in reflecting the importance of cooperative banks and discussing banking systems and new technologies. These banks continuously work towards empowering the common people economically and have made substantial contributions to the cooperative sector. This event was aimed at recognizing their contributions and encouraging them. We are delighted with the enthusiastic response to the summit and awards ceremony from across the country.”
