Significant Contribution Of Deccan College In Field Of Education: Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari
Pune, 6th October 2021: Deccan College is a glory for the country and this college has given great, scholarly gems to the country. The college has made a significant contribution in the field of education, stated Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
He was speaking on the occasion of the valedictory function of the Deccan College Bicentenary Celebration. Union Minister of State for Communications Devu Singh Chouhan graced the occasion through video conferencing while Deccan College President Dr. A. P. Jamkhedkar, Chief Postmaster General of Maharashtra Harish Agarwal, Postmaster General of Pune Madhumita Das, Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule University Prof. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor of Deccan College Prof. Pramod Pandey, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prasad Joshi were also present.
“Completing 200 years is a great achievement for an organization,” Koshyari said. Deccan College is one of the reputed colleges in the country. The tradition of producing ideal citizens and great personalities through the college should continue in the future as well. He hoped that this college would produce scholarly students.
“Our country is sending a message of peace to the world,” he said. Our Yoga Day was celebrated in 180 countries around the world. Indian thoughts are being respected all over the world. The whole world is curious about our culture. The task of preserving the culture of the country is being done through such educational institutions. He also mentioned that the contribution of such glorious organizations in the development of the country is unforgettable.
Union Minister of State Dev Singh Chouhan said that the history and contribution of Deccan College is important for the country. He said that Deccan College has made a significant contribution in the lives of great personalities who fought for the country.
On this occasion, the Governor issued commemorative postal stamp on Deccan College as well as released the Deccan College Bicentenary Souvenir, different Monographs and documentary on Deccan College (Deemed University) containing information on various activities.
In the introduction, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pandey informed about Deccan College and various activities. Dr. Aarti Deshpande-Mukherjee did compering of the program while Prof. Sonal Kulkarni-Joshi expressed the Vote of Thanks.
