Pune, 18th February 2025: Vida Heydari Contemporary (VHC) is set to unveil ‘Silent Meander,’ a solo art exhibition by Pune-based artist Aparajita Jain Mahajan. Known for her introspective and evocative artworks, Mahajan’s latest collection offers a deeply personal journey through memory, emotion, and time.

A Leading Platform for Contemporary Art
Since its inception in 2020, VHC, founded by renowned curator and collector Vida Heydari, has emerged as a driving force in Pune’s art scene. With nearly two decades of global experience, Heydari has worked with prominent Indian, Iranian, and Chinese artists, curating exhibitions that bridge Eastern and Western influences. VHC has also gained international recognition, participating in prestigious events like Art Basel Hong Kong and the India Art Fair.

More than just an exhibition space, VHC fosters artistic dialogue through talks, workshops, and performances, making contemporary art more accessible to the community.

An Artistic Exploration of Memory and Identity
‘Silent Meander’ invites viewers to immerse themselves in Aparajita Jain Mahajan’s nuanced storytelling, where personal history, emotions, and life’s fleeting moments take center stage. Drawing from everyday experiences, Mahajan’s works unfold like an intimate diary, urging the audience to reflect on their own inner worlds.

At the heart of her creative process is repetitive mark-making, meticulous stitching, and delicate drawings on handmade paper. Her mixed-media compositions blur the lines between personal identity and external reality. Expanding beyond flat surfaces, Mahajan incorporates textile fragments from her late mother’s practice, weaving in themes of care, labor, and female intergenerational legacy.

Beyond nostalgia, her work also explores the forces that propel us forward. As she negotiates between the past and the unknown future, her creations become meditative reflections on life’s transient nature. Like a map of memories, each piece unveils the evolving layers of experience, rediscovered in new contexts over time.

Interactive Workshop for Young Artists
In addition to the exhibition, Aparajita Jain Mahajan will conduct a special workshop titled “Cut, Paste, Create.” Designed for children, this hands-on collage session encourages young participants to explore their creativity and emotions through layered compositions on canvas. By experimenting with diverse materials, children will engage in a playful artistic process, discovering new forms of self-expression.

An Invitation to Experience Contemporary Art
‘Silent Meander’ promises to be a compelling exploration of memory, materiality, and artistic legacy. Art enthusiasts, collectors, and the public are invited to witness this evocative exhibition and engage with contemporary art in a thought-provoking and immersive way.
