Sindhi Community in Pune Gears Up for Cheti Chand Celebrations

Pune, 6th April 2024: The vibrant festival of Cheti Chand, heralding the Sindhi New Year and commemorating the 1074th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Sai Jhulelal, will be joyously celebrated on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, at the Deccan College Banquet Hall, situated in the picturesque Deccan College Ground, Near Bombay Sappers, Yerwada. This announcement was made by Ashok Waswani, president of Sindhu Seva Dal (SSD), during a press conference.

Accompanying Ashok Waswani were esteemed dignitaries including Sindhu Seva Dal’s Past President Suresh Jethwani, Vijay Daswani, Deepak Wadhavani, Secretary Sachin Talreja, Treasurer Rajendra Pherwani, and Public Relations Officer Devendra Chawla.

Highlighting the significance of the event, Ashok Waswani revealed that this year’s chief guest for the auspicious occasion will be Srichand Aswani, Founder & Director of Aswani Promoters & Builders. Notable personalities from the Sindhi community, including Justice (Retd) & former Lokayukta of Maharashtra M. L. Tahaliyani and Dr. Lachmandas Pherwani (Former Associate Professor at B.J. Medical College & Sasoon Hospital), will be honored for their invaluable contributions.

Suresh Jethwani elaborated on the festivities, stating that the celebration will commence with a Pooja Arti dedicated to Sai Jhulelal at 7 pm, followed by a captivating array of social and cultural programs alongside non-stop entertainment. This year, attendees can look forward to a live concert by the renowned Sindhi Orchestra, featuring performances by Rockstar singer Shubham Nathani and his troupe from Mumbai, as well as versatile singer Drusthi Kukreja from Nagpur, Master Harshal from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, and stand-up comedian and social media influencer Bhagyashri Daryani from Jaipur. Various cultural and young-generation dance performances by the GND Group of Pune will add to the festive fervor.

Ashok Waswani also shed light on the significance of April 10th as World Sindh Language Day, celebrating the rich heritage of the Sindhi language originating from the historical Sindh region.

The event will be hosted by Mohit Shewani from Mumbai, acclaimed as Sindhi’s Kapil Sharma, followed by a Preeti Bhoj for all devotees. The festivities will be graced by distinguished guests from the Sindhi community, with prominent personalities set to be honored for their outstanding contributions.
