‘Sindhu Mahotsav’ to be held in Pune from April 14 to 16

Pune, 11th April 2022: Sankhya Dance Company and Mudra Centre for Performing Arts have jointly organized ‘Sindhu Mahotsava’- a dance festival between Thursday, April 14 to Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagriha, Kothrud and Tikal Smarak, Tilak Road. The three-day festival, which is in its 10th year, will have veteran performers of Bharatanatyam and Kathak dance who will present their dances on different themes during the event.

The festival has been organized for the past ten years with the initiative of Vaibhav Arekar of Sankhya Dance Company and his co-director Sushant Jadhav along with Poonam Gokhale of Mudra Centre for Performing Arts. The program, which is held in Mumbai and Pune every year presents renowned and veteran artists from all over the country who showcase Bharatanatyam dances and plays during the festival.

Dancers including Divya Devguptanu and Ranjani Ramakrishnan will present ‘Sanhita’ on Thursday, April 14, the first day of the festival in Pune, followed by Dhirendra Tiwari who will perform Kathak dance. The first day will conclude with a program called- ‘Seasons’, which will be narrated through Bharatanatyam dance and produced by Sankhya Dance Company. On Friday, April 15, internationally renowned Bharatanatyam dancer, Malvika Sarukkai who is known for her unique creations and creative performance will present Bharatanatyam dance. This will be followed by a program- ‘Shrimant Yogi’ produced by Sankhya Dance Company, which will present the biography of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The event will be held at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagriha, Kothrud.

On Saturday, April 16, world renowned Bharatanatyam dancer, Rama Vaidyanathan will present her dance, which will be followed by the program- ‘Shiva’ produced by Sankhya Dance Company. The event will be held at Tilak Memorial on Tilak Road. It is a ticketed event.
