Pune, November 13, 2020: Despite good rains and adequate water storage in the dam, poor management by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has forced the residents from Sinhgad road and surrounding areas to face water cut during the festival of lights.

PMC provides water through its Vadgaon water purification plant to areas including Sinhgad road, Dhankawadi, Katraj, Ambegon, Bibewadi and Kondhwa. But since it is difficult to distribute water with equal pressure, thus, the plant keeps the water supply in one area shut once a week. Besides, that every Thursday, the water supply of the city remains shut which makes the residents of these areas face water cut on two days a week.

Corporator Manjusha Khardekar said, “We have been demanding to stop the water cuts in these areas. The water cuts were introduced to ensure smooth water supply during summer season. But for two consecutive years, the city has received good amount of rain, thus the water cut should be stopped.”
