Six proposals for Maharashtra under city forest scheme have been sanctioned by the Central Govt. ; Nagpur , Yeotmal , Washim , Dhule and Pune benefitted

Pune, 29 April 2022: Union Minister of state for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public distribution Ashwini Kumar Choubey today reviewed the activities of these departments in Maharashtra at meeting held in Pune today. Under City Forest Scheme six proposals for Mharahstra were sanctioned and Rs 449.88 lakhs have been allotted for the year 2020-21.

 

Nagpur, Yeotmal , Wasim , Dhule and Pune have been benefitted form this scheme. He directed the officials to work together for the protection and conservation of the environment.  Senior officials from the state, including the Forest Department, the Indian Zoological Survey, the Indian Botanical Survey, the Central Pollution Control Board, the Food Corporation of India and the Bureau of Indian Standards attended the meeting.

 

Minister reviewed the ongoing projects of all these departments in the state and made various suggestions.  Mr. Choubey called for setting up city parks in every major city of the state and constructing at least 75 nectar lakes in each district.  Mr. Chaubey also published a book based on the Koyna Sanctuary prepared by the Indian Zoological Survey on the occasion.
