Soldier From Pune Martyred In Kargil, Funeral To Take Place Tomorrow

Pune, 4th September 2023: The city of Pune mourns the loss of a brave son, Havaldar Dilip Balasaheb Ozarkar, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the nation. Havaldar Ozarkar, bearing service number 15171455F, served with distinction in the 94 Medium Regiment and tragically passed away on September 3, 2023, while traveling from Kargil to Leh.

The mortal remains of the fallen soldier are set to arrive at Pune Airport via Air India Flight No AI 1851 at 11:50 PM today (September 4). His family, led by his next of kin, Sadhana Ozarkar, residing at Bhawani Peth, Pune, will receive him with heavy hearts.

Pune will pay its respects and bid farewell to Havaldar Ozarkar with a wreath-laying ceremony at Pune Airport. Three wreaths will be laid in honor of the fallen soldier by the following officers:

(a) The Station Commander of Station Headquarters Khadki will lay the wreath on behalf of the Army Commander.

(b) The Commanding Officer of Station Workshop EME Khadki will lay the wreath on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa (MG & G) Area.

(c) The duty officer from the Bombay Engineering Group & Centre will lay the wreath on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, DM and GSA.

The funeral is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning at Havaldar Ozarkar’s native place, where he will be accorded full military honors as a mark of respect for his dedication and sacrifice in the service of the nation.

As the city unites in grief, Havaldar Ozarkar’s memory will remain etched in the hearts of Pune’s residents as a symbol of valor and selflessness. His supreme sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made by our armed forces to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.
