Son Of Former MLA From Uttar Pradesh Arrested From Pune In Gang Rape Case

Hadapsar, 25th July 2022: Varanasi and Pune city police have arrested the son of a former Samajwadi Party MLA, who has been leading the police for the past year in the gang rape of a young woman in Uttar Pradesh. The accused was staying in an elite society in the Hadapsar area. The Uttar Pradesh Police had announced a reward of Rs one lakh for the information about the absconding accused.

The arrested accused has been identified as Vishnu Vijay Mishra (34). Vishnu Mishra’s father Vijay Mishra was an MLA from Bhadoi in Uttar Pradesh. The investigation revealed that Mishra was involved in the gang rape case. He was then being searched by the Uttar Pradesh Police.

During the investigation, the Special Investigation Team got information that Mishra’s relatives were living in Pune. Ten days ago, a team of Uttar Pradesh Police Special Squad entered Pune.

After that, the police team arrested Mishra with the help of Hadapsar police. He was produced in a military court. The court granted him a transit remand. After that, the police team left for Uttar Pradesh with him. 

Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta, Senior Police Inspector Arvind Gokule of Hadapsar Police Station, Sub-Inspector Avinash Shinde, Nikhil Pawar, Bhagwan Humbarde, Sonwane and Assistant Commissioner Shailesh Singh of Varanasi Police Special Squad, Police Inspector Srivastava, Sub-Inspector Angad Yadav, Constable Rahul Singh conducted this operation.
