State Excise Pune Division Reports Revenue of Rs 2224.82 Crore in FY 2022-23

Pune, 20th April 2023: The State Excise Pune Division has reported a significant increase in revenue this year compared to the previous year. The division received Rs 369.82 crore more revenue this year, bringing the total revenue to Rs 2224.82 crores in the financial year 2022-23, compared to the revenue of Rs 1855.82 crores in the year 2021-22.

In addition, the division has taken strict action against the illegal manufacture, transport, and sale of liquor, resulting in the registration of 2658 cases and the arrest of 2947 accused during the year. The department has also seized goods worth Rs. 18 crores 14 lakhs 19 thousand 177 and recovered a fine of three lakh 96 thousand 900 rupees from the convicted.

Among the registered cases, 21 cases have been registered, and 42 accused have been arrested in connection with the illegal transportation of excise duty from Goa state to Maharashtra. The department has seized 19 vehicles and goods worth Rs. 8 crore 64 lakh 45 thousand 169.

Furthermore, the department has registered 134 cases of illegal consumption of liquor at dhabas, and 290 accused have been convicted and fined by the court. The department has recovered a fine of three lakh 96 thousand 900 rupees from the convicted.

The Superintendent of State Excise Pune Division, C. B. Rajput, has stated that regular action against illegal manufacture, transport, and sale of liquor will continue. He has also appealed to citizens in the city and district to contact the toll-free number 18002339999 and telephone number 020-26058633 if they have any information about illegal liquor production, transportation, and sale.

In terms of sales, Pune district has reported an increase in the sales of country liquor, beer, and wine in the year 2022-23 as compared to the year 2021-22. The sales of domestic liquor have increased by 15 percent, foreign liquor by 23 percent, beer by 51 percent, and wine by 31 percent.
