STPI is to create 28 Centre of excellence across the country in emerging areas like Internet On Things(IOT), Artificial Inteligence(AI), Cloud, Augmented reality, Virtual reality, block chain – said Mr Sanjay Gupta,Director of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, Administrative and Technical Head of STPI for the State of Maharashtra & Goa
He was speaking as Chief Guest at the inauguration of Bharatiyam 19, annual national level tech-fest of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering, Pune.
He started his speech saying that although India is a 167 billion dollar IT industry yet its contribution to product industry is mere 7.1 billion dollars. He further informed that in this direction the Government of India has launched a national policy towards software products which aims to boost software products in the country. This software product policy will create 3.5 million jobs and boost the software product revenue from 7.1 billion dollars to 80 billion dollars by 2025. He also said that STPI is taking initiative to create 28 Centre of excellence across the country in emerging areas like IOT, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Augmented reality, Virtual reality, block chain. These COEs will work in collaboration with stakeholders state governments, academia, industry and industry mentorship to provide platform to startups and budding entrepreneurs.
Under the umbrella of Bharatiyam 19, various technical events at all departments of BV(DU)COE, were also inaugurated by eminent experts from Industry and Academia. Bharatiyam Hackathon, wherein participating groups have to ideate a solution to real time problems within 48 hours, Proyecto, is a national level project exhibition where students present and demonstrate models from various technical fields, Paper presentation symposium to present ideations and propose research in the form of posters and papers, technical and science quiz in association with IEEE students branch of BV(DU)COE, panel discussions by the MHRD-AICTE’s Institute’s Innovation Council of BV(DU)COE are few to mention
Mr Sanjay Gupta further said that there is a need to make students ready for the industry as per the requirements of the industry and these hackathons act as the best interface between academia and the industry. Hackathons are the unique initiative to identify new and disruptive innovations while solving problems and provide platform for young graduate students to develop entrepreneurship and allow them to think out of the box, he said.
Mr. Avinash Chabukswar, Director, C-Tech Engineers Pvt Ltd, Pune, was also present as a Guest of Honour for the inauguration. Everybody should think on the lines where nothing is impossible he said. He further said that, the opportunities which students get now a days are more abundant and better than those as compared to few years back, and he expressed his confidence that students can do wonders with those opportunities. He said that within 10 years, India will become a super power and students should be ready for that. He concluded his speech by appealing students to never take eyes off their goals, have a dream, be focused, be knowledge rich, remain innovative, think positive and be patient will definitely take you to success and success will follow.
Dr. Anand Bhalerao, Principal and Dean, BV(DU)COE, and Chairman Bharatiyam 19, ARB- Intention of this institute is not only to make students academically strong but also problem solvers and professionals who are industry ready. Hence they are given challenges like Hackathon to develop their technical abilities. Engineering is believed to be equivalent to problem solving however he believes that it is a process of giving challenges to established truths. Objective of Hackathon is to ensure that young generation should challenge the existing truths using different solutions. That is why Bharatiyam 19 is based on presenting ideas and facing challenges based on creativity.
Paper presentations, technical workshops and quizzes organized in the respective departments were also inaugurated simultaneously. These included workshop on IOT, Bootstrap, E-tendering, Robotics, industrial safety and so on. Mr.Pravin Bhamare Global Head SAP Industrialized Services Group, TCS, Mr. Mukul Joshi, Vice President, Nitor Technologies, Pune, Mr Girish Bidani, Center Head, India, HSBC Software Development India pvt. Ltd, Mr. Bakhtyar Khan, M.D., Inter Build Group, Mr. Santosh Oswal, CEO & Founder Director , Ossian Agro Automation Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Ravi Verma, Founder and Managing Director, Hydro- Engineer Pvt. Ltd, were some of the dignitaories present to inaugurate and judge the events at departments.
