Warje, 6th March 2023: A heartless act of cruelty was committed by a young man who was apparently disturbed by the noise made by stray dogs. The innocent puppies were poisoned and killed in a reprehensible act.

The Warje police station (Pune city police) has registered a case against the perpetrator under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, Maharashtra Police Act and The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The incident took place on March 1, around 4 pm at Siddharthnagar, Ramnagar in Warje.

The accused has been identified as Nagesh Sonawane, a resident of Siddharth Chowk, Ramnagar, Warje. Aniket Sanjay Rajput, a resident of Bhagirathi Nagar, Warje Malwadi, filed a complaint in this matter. The vacant lot at Siddharth Chowk is owned by Bapu Ghangaonkar, where stray dogs reside.
