Students To Protest At Pune University For Various Demands

Pune, 10th July 2022: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has increased fees for various courses and hostels this year. The students and various student organizations had submitted a letter to the administration in this regard, to cancel the hike, but the administration has not taken any note of it to date. Therefore, the students and various student organizations of the university will be protesting until the administration will agree to their demands, from 11th July. The protest will be organized on behalf of the Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Sangharsh Kruti Samiti.

“The administration has not taken any note of the various student organizations and students’ demands regarding the fee hike imposed by the university. Finally, after warning to protest, a committee was formed to review the fee hike. However, no satisfactory decision has been taken by the committee yet. This entire strange stewardship of the university is going to impact the career of the students. So from tomorrow, we will protest until our demands are agreed upon,” said the students.

What are the main demands of the students?

– Fee hike for Postgraduate and Ph. D courses to be revoked.
– To revoke the fee hike for hostels.
– The charges of research centres affiliated with the university should be parallel to the university fees.
– To start the hostel for student researchers as soon as possible.
– To resume the fellowship for the Ph.D. student researchers.
– Aniket Canteen and Xerox Centre, Internet Cafe to be started immediately at the previous place.
