Submit your Electricity Meter reading else MSEDCL to issue average consumption bill

Pune, May 3, 2020: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has asked its consumers to submit their electricity meter reading else MSEDCL will issue the bill based on average consumption. They have been requested to make online bill payments.

“Dear Consumer, Mahavitaran will not take any meter reading in May-2020. Hence, you are requested to submit your meter reading using self-reading facility available at the portal and mobile app, if possible. In the absence of reading, your bill will be generated on average consumption”, MSEDCL tweeted.

Mahavitaran Consumer App enables consumers to avail Mahavitaran services at his/her fingertips. The app is simple and easy to use. It provides transparency in delivering services to consumers. The app is available in English as well as the Marathi Language. The app is available for Android, & iOS. Till date, more than 15 Lakh consumers have downloaded Mahavitaran Mobile App.

Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus in the state, 73 lakh 29 thousand MSEDCL low-pressure consumers paid Rs 1227 crore 25 lakh online in March. This includes the highest number of 13 lakh 50 thousand power consumers in Pune circle and 11 lakh power consumers in Bhandup circle.

At present, various measures are being taken in the state to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As a result, MSEDCL’s electricity bill payment centres are also closed. However, MSEDCL is appealing to consumers to pay their electricity bills at home through www.mahadiscom.in website, mobile app or other ‘online’ options.

Due to the lockdown, MSEDCL has stopped printing and distribution of electricity bills from March 23. However, electricity bills are being sent via SMS to customers who have registered their mobile numbers. Also available to view and pay electricity bills on the website and mobile app. Except for credit cards, MSEDCL’s online options for paying low-pressure electricity bills are now free.

Except for credit cards, electricity bill payment through NetBanking, Debit Card, Cash Card, UPI, Digital Wallet is now free. Also, a 0.25 per cent discount is being offered up to Rs 500 per month for online bill payment. MSEDCL has appealed to all low-pressure consumers to cooperate by paying their electricity bills through MSEDCL’s website, mobile app or other ‘online’ options.

The mobile app developed by MSEDCL for power consumers is available in English and Marathi. This app has all kinds of features. Customers have the facility to pay their electricity bills mainly from a single account. It has become possible to view current and past electricity bills and pay them online. There is an option of mobile wallet and cash cards along with net banking, credit/debit card. Details of the filled receipt are also available on the website and app.
